Most of my memories of Rob were from working together at Joes. On a Sunday we’d be off to buy almond croissants from Patisserie Valerie, setting the world to rights with our opinions about anything & everything.
He would be first in the queue to offer advice and guidance to any customer that needed a helping hand. He was extremely ‘tolerant’ of Joe’s ‘colourful’ clientèle and and would act in a professional manner, but, to put it bluntly, if someone was being a pain in the arse, he’d look over at me with a knowing glance and, like a couple of kids, we’d both snigger.
After I relocated to Brighton, I didn’t really see Rob, but on the odd occasion that I did, he would always have a beaming grin and an outstretched hand to shake.
You will be sorely missed, RIP Robert.
